What is a Lip Flip?
A Lip Flip is a quick, minimally invasive treatment that uses a small dose of botulinum toxin (the same active ingredient in Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify) to relax the muscle around the upper lip. As the orbicularis oris muscle softens, the lip’s natural border rolls outward slightly, creating the appearance of a fuller, more defined upper lip without adding any volume. A Lip Flip is not a filler. It works by changing how the lip sits on the face, not by adding product underneath.
Many patients are curious about lip enhancement but hesitate to commit to filler. A Lip Flip is often explored as a lower-commitment option because it changes how the lip sits rather than adding volume. Dosing is small (typically 4 to 6 units) and placement must be measured. Too little produces no visible change; too much can affect speech, eating, or the way the lip moves naturally. The goal is a lip that looks slightly more visible, not one that behaves differently. Conservative dosing protects that line.
