Common Types of Skin Discoloration
Skin discoloration is not a single condition but a group of concerns with different underlying causes. Pigment, vascular, inflammatory, and hormonal discoloration each develop through distinct biological pathways and often require different treatment strategies. Accurate diagnosis is essential, as the most effective approach depends on what is driving the discoloration beneath the skin.
Sunspots and Age Spots
Sunspots are flat brown patches that appear on areas with the most cumulative UV exposure: face, hands, chest, shoulders. They develop slowly over decades and become more visible in adulthood. Pigment-targeted lasers, IPL, and BBL clear them efficiently with minimal downtime in most patients. Melasma
Melasma appears as larger, often symmetrical patches across the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. Redness and Rosacea

Broken Capillaries

Under-Eye Discoloration
Under-eye discoloration can be vascular (visible vessels through thin skin), pigmented (true brown discoloration), or structural (shadows from hollowing).
